Small business websites, built by hand in Metro Detroit.
I design, build and maintain custom websites for small businesses in Metro Detroit and across Michigan. No page builders and no templates: each site is written for the business, loads fast on a phone, is set up to be found on Google and by AI assistants, and you own the code. You work with me directly, from the first call through launch and after.
Based in Metro Detroit. Working with businesses in Ferndale, Royal Oak, Detroit, Birmingham, Berkley and across Michigan.
Who this is for
“Our site was built on a template years ago, and it shows.”
“We pay for a website builder nobody logs into, and the site is still out of date.”
“Customers call to ask things the website should already answer.”
“We are opening something new and need a site that launches with us.”
What is included
Design that fits the business
Layout, type and color built around your brand and your customers, not a theme half the businesses in town are already using.
Fast on every phone
Mobile-first pages that load quickly on a cell connection, because that is where most of your visitors are.
Set up to be found
Clear page titles, structured data, a sitemap, and copy that answers what people actually search, so Google and AI assistants understand your business and can point people to it.
Connected to your tools
Point of sale, ordering, booking, email lists and forms, wired in so information lives in one place instead of three.
Forms that reach you
Contact, quote and order-request forms that land in your inbox, with spam protection built in.
Yours to keep
Your domain, your code, full documentation. If you ever move on, you take everything with you.
Sites I have built like this
Every one is live for a real business. Read how each was built, then click through and judge it yourself.
How working with me goes
No twelve-week discovery that produces a slide deck. You see working software early, you talk to me every week, and you can stop after any phase.

A call
You tell me what is breaking. I tell you whether I am the right person for it — sometimes the honest answer is no, and you will get that answer on the call.
- 02 · 1–2 weeks
Scope and plan
I map your tools and how the work really gets done, then we agree on a scope and a budget that fits the business. You get a phased plan and a clear decision point before anything gets built.
- 03 · 8–14 weeks
Build and ship
Working software in staging from week two. A call with me every week. You see it as it comes together, not at the end.
- 04 · Ongoing if you want
Handover
Full source, full docs, full ownership. If you stop working with me tomorrow, your team can still run it. A retainer is optional, never assumed.
Questions people ask about small business websites
Do I need a custom website, or is Wix or Squarespace good enough?
For plenty of businesses a template is fine, and I will say so on the call. Custom makes sense when the site has to do something specific, like pull a menu from your POS, take order requests or feed a pipeline, when speed and search visibility matter, or when you are tired of fighting a builder you pay for every month.
Will I own my website?
Yes. Your domain, your code and your content. You get the full source and documentation, and nothing is locked to me or to a platform.
How long does a small business website take?
It depends on what the site has to do. A focused site for a local business moves much faster than one with integrations like POS menu sync or online ordering. You get a timeline in the scoping step, before anything is built, and you see a working draft early instead of a reveal at the end.
Who actually builds my site?
I do. Summit is one person, so you talk to the developer, not an account manager, from the first call through launch and every change after.
Can I see websites you have built?
Yes. Every site in my portfolio is live for a real business, and each one has a case study that explains what it does and how. Click through to the live sites and judge them yourself.
Will my site work on phones and show up on Google?
Every site is built mobile-first and checked on phone, tablet and desktop widths. Each one ships with page titles, descriptions, structured data and a sitemap. Nobody can honestly promise a ranking, but your site will give search engines everything they need to understand it.
Do you work with businesses outside Metro Detroit?
Yes. Most of my clients are in Metro Detroit, and I have built for a restaurant in Traverse City. Calls happen by phone or video, so distance is not a problem.
What happens after launch?
I keep the site running if you want me to: updates, fixes, monitoring and small content changes, month to month. If you would rather run it yourself, you get everything you need to do that.
